
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born on April 24, 1982 in Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American artist, singer, and TV host who became known as a pop-rock superstar after being crowned the most popular TV talent competition American Idol in 2002. Clarkson was raised within Burleson, Texas, a suburb in Fort Worth, where her vocal talent was first noticed by the school's teacher of choir as a seventh grader. Clarkson quit high school in order to go into Los Angeles where she failed to make it in the entertainment industry. In 2002, after returning to Texas and completing her high school, she was selected as a contestant on the first season of FOX Broadcasting Co's American Idol, a singing competition where viewers could select their top performer. Clarkson's captivating voice, enthusiasm and humor attracted viewers. She won $1 million, and she also signed a recording agreement with RCA.
