The film revolved around the Cartwrights who were a fictional family of ranchers that lived close to Virginia City Nevada a real mining town in the mid 1800s. His character was that of the Cartwright's son who was the youngest, and who's mother Marie (in the pilot episode, and later Felicia) was widowed and her daughter had died of fever.
