Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is also an author. She is co-founder of The Huffington Post the founder and CEO of Thrive Global and the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist and author, television personality and owner of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she came to England in the year 16 after which she graduated at the age of 16 from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. In the beginning, as the only non-English student, she was elected the president of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. Then she became a conservative syndicated author after her graduation and when The Huffington Post launched a several years afterwards, she was able to create an online voice platform which gave criticisms of the political landscape. The fame of her name helped in getting several high-profile contributors to share their opinions on politics news and culture. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent Candidate for the California Recall Election to replace Governor Davis. Additionally, she led the Detroit Project for fuel-efficient cars. She was listed as 12th in Forbes' list of the most influential media women. The same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 figures in media. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post in 2011 and appointed her as president of the media group and also owned the other AOL properties such as Engadget AOL Music Style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, a management advisor and journalist. They were very close to her father. However, it was her relationship to her mother that formed her. Even in her early childhood she displayed ability to lead that is now well-known. At 16 years of age she moved to United Kingdom to pursue her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge.
